- The San Diego Tourism Authority has been closely monitoring the evolving situation around coronavirus and its impacts to travel. We are working closely with partners at the U.S. Travel Association, Brand USA and Visit California, as well as local and national government officials and health organizations, to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information to travelers.
- The U.S. government and health officials have not suggested limiting domestic travel.
- There have been no coronavirus fatalities in the U.S., and the California Department of Public Health confirms that the health risk to the general public in California remains low.
- Several cities, including San Diego, have declared a state of emergency related to coronavirus, but this does not indicate an increase in risk or number of coronavirus cases. Local officials made this declaration as a precautionary measure in order to increase funding and prepare for a rapid response should the situation worsen.
- Travelers are encouraged to follow guidance offered by the CDC and local and state public health authorities, which follows the same personal best practices that are standard for a typical flu season—frequent washing of hands, covering any coughs or sneezes, etc.
